Life Enrichment
Imagine beginning your day with a stroll on one of the extensive walking trails outside of University Place and ending your day sitting outside, enjoying a warm summer night and a bright moon. Now
imagine further all of that free time you have between morning and
evening and think of the many ways you can spend your time learning
new skills, further developing hobbies, improving your health, making
new friends and discovering your spiritual side.
They say the Fountain of Youth was found in Florida, but we think
it's in West Lafayette today. At University Place, opportunities
for fun and relaxation are seemingly unlimited and many are provided
through our life-enrichment department.
At University Place, we partner with our residents to create a
program that represents their desires, goals and dreams. It's
not so much University Place's life-enrichment program,
but rather, it's the residents of University Place's
life-enrichment program.
As part of your independent lifestyle at University Place you can
choose from a variety of clubs, activities and events. All of
our programs are designed to enrich the quality of your life.
Our residents enjoy physical activities such as fitness fun, line
dancing and other exercises. We offer intellectual and educational
opportunities, including computer training, bridge tournaments,
guest speakers, art appreciation and book clubs. The community
provides many recreational activities too. From surfing the Internet
and walking on the outdoor pathways, to watching classic films
during Friday Favorite Video, our residents find plenty of different
ways to entertain themselves. With an onsite non-denominational
meditation room, residents can enhance their spirituality daily
and engage in study groups and other reflective opportunities
sponsored by our pastoral care department. Our residents also
enjoy taking breaks and relaxing with happy hours, resident barbecues,
live music and other get-togethers.
Beyond the activities organized by life-enrichment, residents have
access to wonderful sites outside of the community thanks to
being a short car or bus ride away from everything Lafayette
and West Lafayette have to offer.
Understanding that our residents have varying desires, as well
as different skill and need levels, is the key reason why we schedule
separate activities for independent living and assisted living,
while at the same kindly welcoming all residents to participate
in whatever activities they wish.
